Dan McDowell is the Director of Learning and Innovation in the Grossmont Union High School District. His current district projects include, but aren’t limited to, creating a vision for high quality instruction, organizing professional learning for teachers and administrators, and supporting new teachers. As part of these projects, Dan has started a district-wide rollout plan for UDL and integrated UDL concepts into all professional learning.

Previously, he served as the Director of Instructional Technology where he planned and implemented a 1:1 Chromebook program with a strong focus on teaching and learning. Before moving to the district office, he taught high school social studies and photography for 18 years. Dan has been involved in technology staff development since 1996, leading over two hundred workshops and presentations. He is a Google Certified Innovator (Santa Monica, 2007) and teaches graduate-level educational technology courses in the Education and Learning, Design and Technology departments at San Diego State.
